A new HPC Compressors customer came to us recently when they were looking to upgrade an existing High Pressure – 8.0 bar(g) air compressor station. They chose to replace their previous system, with a more energy efficient HPC KAESER compressor station, making use of fixed and variable speed compressors.
The customer’s original average system efficiency with an HPC competitor’s Oil free screw Technology was 731.3kW (7.1kW/m3/min). Using the new HPC KAESER oil injected screw compressors, the measured efficiency was 638.6kW (6.2kW/m3/min). The average flow remains around 103m3/min.
Over 8,600 annual operating hours, this is equal to 797,220 kWh/annum, which equates to an incredible annual saving of £196,116.12 (using the plant unit cost of 24.6 pence/kWh -the current cost at the time).

To manage the complete system, HPC installed a SAM (Sigma Air Manager) intelligent controller. The SAM controller analyses all operating data on an ongoing basis and simulates alternative actions while calculating the perfect compressor combination. This results in unprecedented energy efficiency.
